Nigerian sprint hurdler Tobi Amusan has won a silver medal at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship adding another major achievement to her career.

This event took place in Budapest, Hungary on September 11 2026. Amusan keeps representing Nigeria at the highest level earning major titles and keeping records throughout her career. She finished behind behind American Olympic champion Masai Russell who finished in 12.22 seconds. The silver medal came with a financial reward of $75,000.    Before this silver medal Amusan had gone through different competition. Amusan spoke honestly about how hard this period was for her. She said: I’m not going to lie It was very rough”. She said the people closest to her helped her get through it. Also during on of her speech she  warned that the competition among the top women in the 100m hurdles is getting harder every year.      

 Before the final race she said she is focused on leaving the past behind and focusing on the present .

This silver medal is Nigeria’s first medal at this brand new championship and for  Amusan it is a proof that she bounced back after going through a tough time, and it adds another achievement to what is already a successful career.
