Kayinsola Ajayi added another milestone to his remarkable 2026 season by winning a bronze medal in the men’s 100m at the Commonwealth Games Glasgow.
At the games in 2006, Fasuba secured the country’s first medal, a silver. For the 2026 games, Ajayi was the only Nigerian athlete to scale through the semifinal from the three that made it to the stage. Emmanuel Eseme from Cameroon secured the gold in time of 9.83secs, while Lachlan Kennedy from Australia finished second in 9.85secs. Five years ago Kanyinsola Ajayi was playing football in Ikorodu, Lagos, Nigeria.
