Rising Afro Pop-Soul sensation Kotrell, born Atonopriya Cotterell in Rivers State, Nigeria, has just unveiled his much-anticipated second studio EP, “Forever.”
Known for his heartfelt and soulful approach to music, Kotrell’s latest project delves deeper into the theme of love—this time, exploring the profound and lasting nature of true commitment.
Since his debut project “Love is…”, Kotrell has continued to capture hearts with his rich storytelling and emotive voice. “Forever” builds on this narrative, offering a celebration of love that endures through life’s highs and lows. The EP reflects a mature perspective on romance, shifting from fleeting emotions to a steadfast love that withstands time.

Kotrell’s musical journey began early—he composed his first song at the age of nine and recorded his first track by age eleven. By 2018, he was headlining his sold-out solo show, Kotrell Live in Concert, while studying at Bowen University, where he graduated with honors. This experience, combined with his artistic growth, has shaped him into the distinct voice we hear today.
The “Forever” EP is a fusion of Afro-Soul, Pop, and R&B, allowing Kotrell to showcase his versatility as an artist. The project features collaborations with Kenyan singer Bridget Blue and Nigerian artist Dotti The Deity, broadening his international influence.
The EP opens with the tender track “Take Care,” where Kotrell expresses a desire to nurture and protect his lover. Songs like “Now and Always” and “Hold You Down” highlight his unwavering promise to stand by his partner through every season of life.
Midway through the project, Kotrell expresses awe at the beauty of love in “Unbelievable,” capturing the intimacy of romance with the poignant line, “Forever, baby.” The closing track, “Home,” offers a touching reflection on the comfort and sense of belonging his partner provides.
