The musical Artist Steven Umoh, popularly known as “ObongJayer” is a Nigerian Musical artist based in London; Following his Long-playing (LP) record “which way is forward” and the single “poison” in 2020.
ObongJayer collaborates with award-winning Nigerian record Producer Osabuohien Osaretin better known as “Sarz” to give us this 4 track power packed Extended Playlist “Sweetness”. This genre-bending record is r&b with soul, fused with a touch of Afrobeats; the delivery of this tape is everything we didn’t know we needed, from the sweet rhythm of “sweetness” that unpacks the excitement of every melodic excellence.
The vocals keep you soothed as he narrates vulnerability and insecurity on lead single “Gone girl” as he asks his partner “is there something I’m not doing?” “are we good, have I misread the room”? The uncertainty about one’s love interest never sounded so sublime to hear.
Obongjayer continues to carry us on this soulful delight on “If you say” and Nobody as his vocal prowess is seamless and courses through the beats effortlessly all thanks to Sarz on the beat. The production quality is sonically charged, clear and consistent and leaves little to no room for error.
