In the Nigerian entertainment industry, we often see a divide between the “suits” and the “creatives.” But every once in a while, someone emerges who can bridge that gap with ease. Today, that person is making headlines. We are excited to spotlight a rising star, Vechi Allen A.K.A Vechilz, who is proving that you can rock a microphone and a legal brief with equal flair.

Recently, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) announced its Committee on the Lawyers in Entertainment Forum, and one name on that list is sparking a lot of conversation. This is no other person than Vechi Allen, popularly known as ‘Vechilz’. In a heartfelt announcement, he shared:

“I am excited to announce my appointment by the Nigerian Bar Association as a member of the Committee on the Lawyers in Entertainment Forum. This appointment validates my longstanding commitment and consistent contributions to the growth of the entertainment industry and the practice of law in Nigeria.”

What makes this story so compelling isn’t just the title, it’s the grind that preceded it. This isn’t a lawyer trying to “enter” entertainment; this is an entertainment veteran who happens to be a lawyer. Vechilz has been deep in the trenches of the industry long before he was called to the Bar, and he isn’t afraid to remind us of the journey.

Reflecting on his roots, Vechilz noted:

“Over the years, I have dedicated a significant part of my teenage and youthful years to promoting entertainment and serving at the intersection of entertainment and law. From artist onboarding and rollouts, managing major event stages, serving as the National Director of Socials of LAWSAN, performing as a hypeman and event host, to producing Nigeria’s biggest law themed party, The Legal Rave, among many other, this journey has been both intentional and fulfilling.”

For many, being “barely a year at the Bar” would be a reason to stay quiet and wait their turn. But in the fast-paced world of Nigerian Afrobeats and global exports, talent doesn’t wait. His appointment alongside industry heavyweights suggests that the NBA is looking for fresh blood and boots-on-the-ground experience.

Vechilz acknowledged the gravity of sitting at the same table as legends like Falz and Audu Maikori, stating:

“Although I am barely a year at the Bar, being appointed alongside respected industry figures such as @falz, @princei, @Audu Amokiri, and other key players in entertainment law is a testament to the greater things ahead in my career.”

This move by the NBA President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, signals a new era where the “Legal Rave” energy meets the formal structure of the Bar. It’s a win for the culture and a win for every young creative who has ever felt like they didn’t fit into a traditional box.

Expressing his gratitude and looking toward the future, Vechilz concluded:

“I sincerely appreciate the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mazi Afam Osigwe, for finding me worthy of this appointment. I remain committed to contributing my quota to the growth of the Nigerian Bar Association and to the advancement of Entertainment Law in Nigeria.”

We’ll be keeping a close eye on this committee. If his past work is any indication, the future of Entertainment Law in Nigeria is about to get a lot more vibrant.
