Rema’s debut album Rave & Roses has reached another major milestone with the project spending 200 weeks on Billboard’s World Albums chart.
Rave & Roses was released in 2022. the project that helped introduce an even wider global audience to Rema’s blend of Afrobeats, pop and R&B. Four years later and it’s still topping charts. One of the biggest reasons Rave & Roses became such an important project was “Calm Down.” The song featuring American pop star Selena Gomez became a global hit after the release of the remix in 2022. This masterpiece eventually reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 while it’s massive global success helped push Rema further into the international music conversation. It broke King Sunny Ade’s four decade old record of 29 weeks on the Billboard 200 back in 2023. It then went on to overtake Wizkid’s “Made In Lagos”.

Rema used this project to establish an artistic world around the idea of the Rave. Songs such as “Holiday,” “Soundgasm,” “Time n’ Affection,” “Dirty,” “Addicted” and “Love” showed different sides of his talent. The album stands as a marker of just how far the genre and Rema specifically has come since the album’s release back in March 2022.
Speaking through his team following the milestone Rema stated: “This is for Africa. For every young person who dared to believe our sound could travel this far. We are just getting started.” Rave & Roses is no longer just an album it is the gold standard. And as the numbers continue to climb, the message is clear African music has taken up residence.
